The Minister for Community Safety, Roseanna Cunningham wrote recently to Sandra White MSP outlining the Scottish Government's position regarding mutualisation of FRS in England. The Letter, available in "Related Content" makes clear that this is not an option that will be considered in Scotland. The FBU are please to have received such a firm rebuttle of these ideas and hope that our colleagues in the areas where this is being suggested in England can use the Scottish position to argue against the proposals,
Mininster for Community Safety, Roseanna Cunningham has written to the UK Government Under Secretary of State for CLG on the topic of firefighter pension normal pension age (NPA). The letter is available in the "Related Content" but highlights include statements such as; "The review does not appear to give unequivocal support for the proposed firefighters' NPA of 60", "We believe that pension reform should be taken forward in partnership with public sector workers rather than being imposed by Treasury direction"
The FBU Scottish Committee met on Thursday and Friday (24 & 25 Jan) and discussed a number of topics related to the reform of the service. The FBU in Scotland has for some time now been considering the best way to structure its reps and officials in order to provide the best arrangement for representing and negotiating on behalf of our members.
