Over the last couple of weeks the FBU has been focused on the issues around pensions and has taken the opportunity to raise our concerns politically over two weekends at both the SNP and Labour Party spring conferences. These events allow more time to speak with politicians than is normally available and gives us the chance to explain the subject in more detail.

The focus during this week returns fully to the development of the SFRS with a series of meeting taking place. Monday 29th saw the FBU and POD meet in the morning to discuss Flexi Duty Officer arrangements, the Incident Command System, the structure of the SFRS and the protection of FBU officer members. A detailed outcome from this meeting is in joint preparation and will be circulated shortly.

The above meeting was followed by a routine FBU/POD meeting which discussed a wide range of topics, but included IPDS, discipline & grievance and the standardization of terms & conditions. This meeting outlined a number of areas for further discussion and follow meeting have been arranged to consider options and detail. One such topic will be the establishment of an interim fitness standard. Members will of course be kept up to date with any developments.
