Firefighters who joined the Firefighters Pension Scheme (FPS 1992) aged 18-20

The Scottish Government is addressing the issue of Firefighters' Pension Scheme contributions paid in excess of 30 years' service before age 50 and is committed to ensuring that those affected get the money they are entitled to, in full and as soon as possible.

This is a complex matter which is also being considered elsewhere in the UK and it is essential that all issues are fully worked through to ensure that the appropriate changes are made to scheme regulations and the proper payments are made.

The Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA), which administers Scotland's Firefighters' Pension Scheme, will write to affected individuals in due course. Further details will be made available on the SPPA's web site at http://www.sppa.gov.uk/ as soon as they become available.
