The Scottish Regional Committee at its meeting today (23rd September) discussed the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Paper which will be taken by the Board on Thursday 26th September 2013 in Aberdeen

The Fire Brigades Union strongly condemns this unexpected proposal to cut the number of emergency control rooms and frontline emergency fire fighter control staff.

Fire controls are an integral part of the front line which must be protected, and we would ask the service to withdraw this paper immediately to allow negotiations to take place.

In future, if the SFRS decide not to fully consult and negotiate on policies The Fire Brigades Union will withdraw from joint partnership working.

The Fire Brigades Union calls on Scottish Fire Board members to reject these proposals
