Ava is a three-year-old girl from Lochgelly who desperately needs a transplant due to a rare bone marrow failure disorder. Tragically despite finding a matching donor on two separate occasions the transplants have been unable to go ahead after the donors were unable to proceed.

This leaves Ava desperately needing a new hero. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have a life-saving partnership with blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan and have stepped in to help save Ava. They are hosting a donor clinic with school pupils at Lochgelly High School on Friday 11th November with the school opening again on Saturday 12th November (between 10am and 4pm) for a patient appeal for anyone between the ages of 16-30 to come along and join the register through the provision of a small saliva sample.
